One of the bigger sound design projects I worked on in 2021, Netflix has set the premiere date for the highly anticipated sci-fi rom-com “AI Love You” for February 15th. A modern love story set in the near future where an AI building is powered by human feelings. Due to a software glitch, it falls in love with a real girl, escapes the building into the body of a real man, and tries to win her affections. Happy to see this quirky film out into homes worldwide on one of media’s biggest platforms! Watch the trailer here.
It seems like Tokyo just ended, and maybe that’s because it did. But we’re back at it only a few months later, this time for the Winter Olympics in Beijing. My first time working on the Olympics broadcast for NBC was in 2008 for the summer games in Beijing. Back then, most of the team was on-site in China, while some of us worked out of 30 Rock in New York. This time, like Tokyo, we’re living in a different world, and most of us are remote. But what would’ve proven to be very difficult in 2008 was pulled off with ease in 2021, and will be again in 2022. Looking forward to another Winter Games, and helping producers tell the stories of the athletes through music.
Saturday 01/15/22 is the opening of Gosha Levochkin‘s solo show “The Last Element” at The Hole in the East Village. It marks the first time his work will be shown with a multimedia installation. The installation features a wall of video screens with animations by Johnny Lee that recall the design aesthetics and geometry of early 2000’s video game consoles. The score features an hour of original music that is influenced by the imagery and themes from the paintings. This is the first release under my own name rather than my Jazz and Indian classical-influenced side project Rig Veda.
